Outlook 2003 Setup

This document details the procedure for setting up a new email account in Microsoft Outlook 2003. This is accomplished through the account setup wizard.

  1. In Outlook 2003, click on the "Tools" menu and select "E-mail Accounts..."

  2. Select "Add a new e-mail account" and click "next."

  3. You will be prompted to specify the type of mail server you use. Select POP3 and click "Next."

  4. You will be prompted to provide your account information. Enter the incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) server information that was provided in your setup email. Enter your full email address as the "User Name" and enter your password in the "Password" box.

    Click the "More Settings..." button.

  5. Under the "Outgoing Server" tab, choose "My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication".

  6. After reviewing all of your settings, click "OK" to return to the email settings window. Click "next." Outlook 2003 will display a window indicating that you have completed the account setup process. Click "finish" to exit the new-account wizard.

  7. NOTE: If you receive an error when sending email using the above settings, then your ISP may require that you use their SMTP servers to send out email. If this is the case, then contact your ISP to obtain their SMTP server address. Use the address that they provide in the Outgoing (SMTP) Server area in Step 4. Then, set the "My outgoing (SMTP) Server requires authentication" setting (Step 5) according to your ISPs requirements.
